With 15 years of experience as Both a Planning and Zoning Commissioner and a sitting City of Gonzales Councilman, I’ve made decisions that affect each of you greatly. What sets me apart, is that I’ve made each decision with you in mind. You see, I’m a Gonzales man. I was born here. I was raised here. I raised my own family here. I’ve been a successful business owner for 40 years. So, when I say I’ve made decisions with you in mind, it’s because I’m one of you. Outcomes matter to me and my family, so I do the work to ensure the outcomes are the best ones for us all. Those outcomes have created an innovative, collaborative, and better Gonzales. It’s a Gonzales boasting with opportunity. It’s a Gonzales where we all want to live. The role of mayor is for someone who wants to do the work to solve complicated problems. It’s about logical solutions. It’s about voting for me based on my experience and my platform. 

My platform isn’t simply full of my ideas. It’s full of OUR ideas. It consists of WELL-RESEARCHED solutions for our most obvious problems. I’ve spent time consulting residents, community leaders, industry experts, and government employees, and have integrated their feedback every step of the way. Our city is made up of people with different political views, but your mayor needs to set politics aside. When we welcome bipartisanship, and we focus on what’s right for every person who lives here, we all win.   

OPEN AND DEMOCRATIC GOVERNMENT 

• I support open, accountable, accessible government for all people, coupled with meaningful civic engagement. 

 PUBLIC INPUT AND ACCESS TO INFORMATION 

•  I support supplying residents with the right to address the Council at the beginning of Council meetings on any issue and expanding opportunities for all members of the public to offer informed and timely input to all public officials. 

•  I support the ADOPTION of an inclusive, transparent, participatory budgeting process.

•  I support fostering a collaborative environment with all local, parish, state, and federal officials. 

 MAJOR DRAINAGE 

•  I support a comprehensive long-term plan for new and existing water sources, water conservation, efficient water distribution, avoiding or cleaning up contaminants, and support for innovative techniques to save and reuse existing water. 

•  I support addressing resident concerns regarding flooding in a timely manner by working with any and all agencies ready to remedy those issues. 

 PUBLIC SAFETY 

•  I support THE efforts of local police to operate within the standards our community sets, prioritizing human life and dignity for all.

•  I support a return to Community Policing as a way of better incorporating the police as our greatest asset for a safe Gonzales. 

•  I support the civil rights of all within law enforcement, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, disability, and all other protected categories, as a way of reflecting the goal of protecting and serving the public.  

ENVIRONMENT

•  I support initiatives that promote clean air and environments for the health, safety, and comfort of all.

•  I support the containing of suburban sprawl and to preserve and protect the environment, including clean water, green spaces, and prime agricultural soils. 

 ECONOMY 

•  I support economic development that will benefit the public by creating family-supporting jobs, equal opportunities, and an equitable standard of living. 

•  I support an Economic Development Plan that is annually updated through a public process, that guides the City’s policies and practices, and that focuses on neighborhoods most in need of investment. 

•  I support making all economic development decisions through an equity lens, including tax and revenue-generating decisions. 

•  I support community-based economic development and City policies and programs that foster small, local, and start-up businesses. 

 PARKS AND RECREATION 

•  I support capital improvements, reviews, and recommending parks-related capital expenditures in each annual budget cycle. 

•  I support the continued, responsible management in the execution of parks improvement and maintenance in terms of our existing green spaces, and the expanding and creating of new public green spaces.
